Bangkok River BoatThai Delta Adventures WHITE LOTUS, a historical teak boat, explores the Thai Delta--a vast fertile home of humanity.
**Chao Praya River originates in the northern mountains of Thailand from 5 tributaries flowing southbound toward the Gulf of Thailand. Splitting the city of Bangkok it marks east & west boundaries. Erosion from the twisting river, along with an ever industrious mankind, have, over the centuries, created a maze of khlongs (canals) stretching across the delta. Bangkok River Boat is on regular patrol of these historical waterways. Also, westward lie two rivers running along a north south parallel with the Chao Praya. Meanam Ta Chin is the first river westward from the Chao Praya River. Meanam MaeKhlong River lies further west. A fertile land of coconut plantations, salt works, palm sugar operations and fishing. **

Exploring the Chao Praya River & tangent waterways opens the doors to lead deep into a maze of amazing Thonburi khlongs unfolding a vivid traditional life style, active natural wildlife, temples, monks, swimmers, flowers, vibrant color & texture of Thai khlong life. The main river is also full of visual treasures & lasting experiences. A mighty river loaded with Asian history, so very much to discover. While it’s wonderful to cruise the khlongs, cruising north on the main river to Nonthaburi, Koh Kret, Patum Thani, south to Bang Krachao, Samut Prakan, Gulf of Thailand is a spellbinding trip, too. Close to the city one can gain an eye opening perspective of the Bangkok metropolis by cruising the curving river & khlongs.
The choices of routes to follow are wide and varied. Typical trip---Traveling south from Saphan Taksin bridge on the Chao Praya River a water lock can be found on the west bank a bit beyond Wat Bukalo—an outstanding Buddhist monastery rising high above the river plane. Approaching the watergate if all is clear, we zoom through into the Chom Thong area. This is Khlong Dao Khanong, formerly the banks of which hosted a multitude of factories delivering goods for shipment by boat. Salt, cement, fertilizer, fruit and other products were available. Most of this activity has now diminished but many of the old factory buildings remain, with several still in use. Light industry continues in the Chom Thong/Dao Khanong area with motor transit access via Rama II rather than the khlong.
